My Mac didn't lock
- Is the iPhone app still running? Force-quitting it stops Straylock until you open it again. Open it, and leave it alone afterwards.
- Is Straylock paused? The menu bar menu and the iPhone app both show Pause.
- Did you leave the iPhone on your desk? Straylock follows the phone, not you.
- Is Bluetooth on for both? The Mac's menu and Settings say when Bluetooth is off or Straylock isn't allowed to use it. Allow it in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Bluetooth.
- Does Settings say the last lock didn't work? Follow the step it shows. It may ask you to set "Require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off" to Immediately in System Settings, Lock Screen.
My Mac locked while I was sitting there
When your Mac locks because your iPhone's signal got weak, your iPhone can ask whether it was right. Tap "I was still at my Mac" and Straylock waits a little longer next time. You can also move the Sensitivity slider toward Far, on the Mac or in the iPhone app. A thick bag, a back pocket or a metal case can weaken the signal as much as distance does.
My Mac and iPhone won't connect
- Open the iPhone app so it is in front, then in the Mac's Settings choose Pair iPhone.
- Approve the pairing prompt on the iPhone.
- If you replaced your iPhone or Mac, choose Forget iPhone in the Mac's Settings and pair again.
- If one app says the other needs an update, update that app. The Mac app updates itself when you quit it.
Things Straylock can't do
- It can't unlock your Mac. Apple gives apps no way to, and unlocking by distance would not be safe. Touch ID does that.
- It can't lock while the iPhone app is force-quit, or while the iPhone is switched off.
- A macOS update can change how apps lock a Mac. If a Mac update stops Straylock locking, write to us; we fix this in an update.
Updates and removing Straylock
The Mac app checks for updates by itself and installs them when you quit it. Settings has a Check for Updates button. To remove it, quit Straylock, drag it out of Applications and delete the app from your iPhone. The privacy page says what is stored and where.
